From Customer Service to the product, please save yourself the time and frustration that I have spent. I purchased the MOOV 500 in October 2008. About two months later I noticed that the calibration was off about 1/4 of an inch. If you have one, you know that all of the important features are located on the right side (cancel, zoom, etc). For example, if I typed a "P", the letter "O" or "I" would come up. I could not use any of the slider bars due to this calibration issue. I called into the helpless desk and he advised me that there wasn't any way to adjust calibration, and that I should reset to factory defaults. I was disappointed to lose my preferences, but I just spent alot of money on this so, ok. I ask the helpless desk how to back up my addresses so I wouldn't lose them and they checked and found out there is no way to back anything up, (Yes, he even asked someone). Of course through my own poking around, I found that there is a way by using the software provided in the box. Too late for that I reset to factory defaults, and of course that didn't fix anything. I called back and they advised me to use the provided software to do a software download (thus, how I found out about the backup/restore option). Of course, the provided cable didn't work, but I found another that did. I did the software download and of course, still not fixed. I called into helpless desk and they requested I send it in to them at my expense (insured as well). I sent it in, and when they sent it back, three weeks later, there was not an option to leave the package, and I was forced to take the day off of work to sit around and wait for the package to arrive. I opened my fresh from repair GPS and found the fix scribbled on a piece of paper. They had done the same software install that I had done previously. REALLY?? I plugged it in hoping against hope that they had done something different to fix it and that it was in fact fixed. Of course NOT. I called in again to express my displeasure and this is where their customer service really shined thru. I was told to send it back to them to repair. Really? You are kidding, right? This was not acceptable to me, and I advised that I wanted my money back or a replacement. She said she would check with her supervisors and email me back. Two weeks later I called in explaining my problem once again and now getting a little angry that I am still dealing with this. Well, the helpless desk rep said that they had decided that my only option was to send it back to them for repair. I told them that this was not acceptable, and that I wanted to escalate to a supervisor. I was told that they could have one call me back in 24-48 hours? What kind of escalation is 24-48 hours? I told the helpless desk representative that I would hold for the next available supervisor and after telling me that they would call me back in 24-48 hours as per procedure, she left me on hold for 3 HOURS! Never coming back to say that they were trying to find someone, or escalate further up the ladder, but out of spite, left me on hold with no explanation for 3 HOURS!! I take that back, after three hours of having no interaction with them, I finally hung up. Who knows how long they would have left me hanging on!! Considering that their hours are 0900 to 1800 CST time and I finally hung up at 1830CST. Boy those supervisors must be really busy handling upset customers!! So 48 hours later, after not receiving a call back from anyone, I call back in once again, and apparently found a supervisor that was available who advised me that she would check with her superiors about what to do, but they do not refund the purchase price. She said she would call back in 24 hours, do I believe her? No, but I will update with news as I get it.

Mio Moov 500 - 4.7' Portable GPS Navigation Review by S. S. DiFrancis "Fusioncell" (Middle East Air Base)

"The Mio Moov 500 series pictured is the same physical device as the S555 I purchased in September 2010 as the salesman's "newest model". On my blind presumption that I could buy maps for other regions, I unfortunately discovered this model only comes with maps of the Middle Eastern countries. I also paid WAY TOO MUCH in the Emirates at over $400 US. The outside of the box FALSLEY states "2010 Maps" --- yet there are no maps included that are less than 3 years old!!! I know, I drive the streets in Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE. Further, the PC software called MioMore Desktop lists maps that I would like to purchase --- BUT when I click "Buy Maps" their software takes me to some Chinese and Taiwan website with absolutely no maps at all...just accessories. Okay, so I write to Mio Support, and only get a one line reply that this model has no supported maps for other regions? What The French Toast?!
I only give it 2 stars because the device appears physically built well, boots quickly and aquires GPS in a reasonable time... yet... I do not like the interface compared to a much more user friendly Garman. Bottom line? DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS CHEAP CHINESE CRAP. GET A GARMAN or a Tom Tom... anything is better ! Well, maybe Nokia maps are next to worst. But so far MIO MOOV is the worst.

Mio Moov 500 - 4.7' Portable GPS Navigation Review by Jenny Brown

I asked for a basic GPS for Christmas and got this one. I know nothing about GPS so I have nothing to compare it too. The first place we were going was to the Philadelphia zoo as we live in NJ. We know how to get there, but wanted to see how the Mio worked. I hit Points of Interest and it didnt have it!! I mean the Philly zoo!! Since we didnt have an exact address then your out of luck. It has come through for several other locations and I think it might have been a fluke on the zoo. I get frustrated because you keep having to enter the state every time you search. It should remember what state you live in. Also there is no way to get back to the maps after you have been toying around with it, only by hitting the back button like 5 times, then map button again. There should be a button on the screen at all time to take you directly back to the map without the rabbit trail. SO far it has gotten us to our locations correctly.

Mio Moov 500 - 4.7' Portable GPS Navigation:: Description

Designed for the ultimate in visibility, Mio Moov 500 is a Super-Widescreen portable GPS Navigation device. Featuring a 4.7" screen, preloaded maps of the U.S., GPS navigation with Text-to-Speech for spoken street names as you drive, and full color brand icons for popular points of interest along your route, the Mio Moov 500 is the portable GPS navigation device to beat. Room with a View The most striking feature of Mio Moov 500 is the 4.7" widescreen display. This extra large screen is your window to the navigation world and makes it easier than ever to get the information you need as you travel. A bigger screen means bigger buttons, clearer text and more map on the screen. And more is better. It's a widescreen world out there - you need widescreen directions. More than words There are a lot of things that you need to watch while you're driving. The screen of your GPS doesn't have to be one of them. While many GPS navigators will warn you that you will be "turning right in half a mile", Mio Moov 500 uses an advanced Text-to-Speech feature which will read you the actual street names of upcoming turns. This way you can keep your eyes on the road and look for Main Street rather than spend time guessing how far half a mile is... All dressed up and ready to go To get you up and running as fast as possible, Mio Moov 500 is ready to go, straight out of the box. Full U.S. maps are preloaded, and Mio Moov 500 comes complete with a windshield mount and car adaptor, so all you need to do is hit the power switch and choose a destination.
